What issues should be paid attention to during the transportation of FRP pipes?
The following issues need to be noted during the transportation of FRP pipes:
Packaging
Pipe protection: Before loading, FRP pipes should be properly packaged. Generally, straw ropes, fiber woven cloth, plastic film and other materials are used to wrap the pipes. This can prevent the pipes from being directly hit and rubbed during transportation, resulting in surface scratches and wear. At the same time, it can also resist the erosion of external dust and moisture to a certain extent.
Pipe mouth sealing: In order to prevent debris from entering the pipe and prevent rainwater from pouring in during transportation to cause water accumulation, the pipe mouth should be sealed. Plastic plugs, rubber plugs, etc. can be used to seal the pipe mouth tightly. For large-diameter pipes, simple sealing plates can be made of wood boards and other materials, and fixed with tape or ropes to ensure that the pipe mouth is well sealed.
Loading
Reasonable placement:
Layered placement: Load FRP pipes in layers according to the carrying capacity of the transport vehicle and the size of the carriage. Appropriate cushioning materials, such as square wood and rubber pads, should be placed between each layer of pipes. The spacing of the cushioning materials should be uniform to ensure that the pipes can be placed stably and evenly stressed, and to avoid deformation, rupture and other damage caused by mutual squeezing or excessive local stress.
Orderly arrangement: Pipes on the same layer should be arranged neatly, and the pipe axes should be kept parallel as much as possible. For pipes of different diameters, the large diameter pipes are generally placed on the lower layer and the small diameter pipes are placed on the upper layer. Attention should be paid to avoid nesting and jamming between pipes, which are not conducive to unloading and ensuring the integrity of the pipes.
Firm fixation:
Binding and fixing: Use ropes, steel belts and other binding tools to fix the loaded pipes. The binding position should be reasonable. Usually, the binding is performed at both ends and the middle of the pipe, and the binding force should be moderate. It is necessary to ensure that the pipes will not shift or roll due to vehicle shaking and bumping during transportation, and to avoid damage to the pipes caused by too tight binding.
Stable support: For FRP pipes with a long length, in addition to binding and fixing, a suitable support structure must be set up in the carriage to prevent the middle of the pipe from bending and deforming due to its own weight. The support can be made of materials such as triangular wood and steel pipes, so that it fits well with the contact part of the pipe and is fixed on the carriage to provide reliable support.
Transportation route and vehicle selection
Route planning: Choose a transportation route with good road conditions, try to avoid bumpy, rugged, and potholed roads, reduce the impact of vehicle bumps and vibrations on the pipeline, and consider traffic restrictions such as road height and width restrictions to ensure that the transportation vehicle can pass smoothly and avoid damage to the pipeline caused by collision with obstacles due to road problems.
Vehicle adaptation: According to the length, diameter, weight and other factors of the FRP pipe, choose a suitable transportation vehicle to ensure that the vehicle's carrying capacity and compartment size can meet the transportation needs. For example, for large-diameter, long and heavy pipes, large flatbed trucks or semi-trailers are required for transportation, and the vehicle must be in good condition and the braking, suspension and other systems must work normally to ensure the smooth and safe transportation process.
Precautions during transportation
Driving speed control: During transportation, the driver is required to strictly control the vehicle speed, avoid sudden braking, sharp turns, speeding, etc., and maintain the stability of the vehicle, because too fast speed and violent driving operations can easily cause the vehicle to produce greater shaking and inertia, which may cause the pipeline to collide and shift in the carriage, thereby causing damage.
Rain and sun protection: If the transportation time is long or encounters bad weather, appropriate protective measures should be taken. For pipelines transported in the open air, waterproof canvas should be used to cover the pipelines in time on rainy days to prevent rain from soaking the pipelines for a long time; on sunny days with high temperature and strong sunlight, sunshade cloth should also be used to cover the pipelines to avoid long-term exposure of the pipelines to the sun, resulting in aging of the resin matrix and performance degradation.
Regular inspection: During long-distance transportation, it is best to conduct regular inspections of the pipelines on the vehicle at appropriate parking points to check the fixing of the pipelines, whether the packaging is intact, whether the pipe mouth seal is loose, etc. If problems are found, they should be dealt with in time to ensure that the pipelines are always in good transportation condition.
